DBWI: oil reaches $200 per barrel

You know, its awful. Ever since Iraq declared a new UAR with Jordan and Yemen, and then took out Kuwait in '91 and Saudi Arabia back in '92, oil prices have shot through the roof. I've given up using my car because its so expensive, and so has nearly everyone I know.

It's John Anderson's fault. After he went to the right, Regan lost the election and Carter's second term was marked by inaction over Afghanistan and a lack of support for Iraq in the Iran-Iraq War. Iran won with Soviet aid, giving the Soviets a warm-water port and control over the oil resources comming out of Saudi Arabia. The Communist victory in Yemmen was all too predictable, and after years of war a UAR seemed pretty nice. Jordan was willing to play along also. When Iraq invaded Kuwait, the Soviet Union blocked UN action, and our counterattack was halted by Iranian missile strikes that knocked out our aircraft carriers.

This is why I ride a Vesper. It's only a fraction of the cost, and plus you don't have to worry about the sabotaged oil some people claim is coming out of Iraq. ALso, you don't have to pay for the tar sands oil our government is marketing as a "Homeland-friendly alternative."

It would all have been so much better if we had of stood up to Saddam; now, Iraq pretty much runs the OPEC and the quotas are at insane prices. Whats more, from all this money, the media are now telling us Iraq has over 50 nuclear missiles within striking range of the US!

And none of this would have happened if Dukakis hadnt won the election. Actually, now i think about it, Bush probably wouldnt have done anything either.

Yeah, it's Iraq's fault it's like this, sure, but if it weren't for those danged Democrats in Washington, we could be drilling all the oil we needed from places like Alaska!

(OOC: Taken almost word for word from this idiot neo-con (not an insult to conservatives in general; the dude has the IQ of a grapefruit) I have the misfortune of talking to every afternoon.)
