DBWI: No Two Korean Dynasties

South Korea decided to restore the Joseon Dynasty briefly after the split of Korea, there are two dynasties the DPRK led by the kims in the North and the Lees in the South who lead the Joseon dynasty, the Lees are notorious for them being related to the founders of Samsung, a Tech and appliance company, would be this the case if South Korea did not restore the Monarchy and the Lees and the Kims hate each other very much.

Would be this the case if south korea is a republic?

There would be still very deep ideological division. South Korea would still be capitalist but probably not so democratic nations. If South would be republic it might has more restricted political liberties and it is possible that the country is almost like authotarian poice state.

It was notable that North Korea was known as Democratic People's REPUBLIC of Korea until the Fall of Soviet Union, and even that, it was reported that Kim Il-Sung only reluctantly accepting the Kingship after Kim Jong-Il supposedly demands him to just stop pretending being a Republic and give their family proper claim as they were descendants of branch of Silla Dynasty themselves (or so they claim).

At least Crown Prince Kim Han-Sol has been making public appearances in support for the two Korean dynasties to coexist, after King Kim Jong-Nam opened a (limited) democratic reforms and easing the control of economy. Hope that General-Prince Kim Jong-Un, who headed the military and being the ironically young face of the old guard, didn't do anything rash...

OOC: Kim Il Sung was quite conscious, likely even proud, of the fact that his family belonged to the Jeonju Kim descent group, whose family tree has nothing to do with Goguryeo. The Jeonju Kims branched from the royal dynasty of Silla in the tenth century.

Also, it would be extremely impolite in traditional East Asia to call royals by their given name.

OOC : Edited. Any suggestions to the names?

I remember some of the Royal family in South Korea and the head of the Samsung company got jailed along with PM Park Geunhye recently.

Most South Koreans did suspect foul play from current PM Moon Jae-In, he has been recorded in private several times that he wanted to depose the current King and replace them with a Republic that will go on to unite Both Koreas.

Even King Jongnam publicly curse the insolent power grabber that is Moon Jae-In while offering sanctuary to Joseon Royalty and Park Gyun-Hye.

Prime Minister Park did made history by diplomatically end the status of formal war between two Koreas, and negotiated contracts for Samsung's behalf for investments in North Korea. Her forced removal of power using what is clearly a pathetic staged sting operation is one of the biggest scandal that still grips South Korea.

It was bad enough that some people actually wanted the Joseons to actually have more powers comparable to the Absolute Monarchy of the North, instead of being mostly powerless figurehead.

Since the PM Park Chunghee was known for his avid support of the Monarchy, Park Geunhye renewed the support for the Royals like her father was.
