DBWI: No Thai Republic

What if the Thai Republican Revolution of 1932 had not occurred, and Thailand remained a monarchy? Would it be a constitutional monarchy or would it have become a republic later?

Definetly no Thai involvement in the war, much less on the Japanese side. Also means Thailand doesn't get split into the communist east and capitalist west of OTL.

I'm doubtful. I think even without the instability of the post-war Thai regime, the east/Isan would fall to communism. Isan is culturally distinct (more Laotian) and physically separated from the rest of Thailand by terrain. However, assuming the monarchy is aligned with the Allies ITTL, they may be able to hold off the Japanese in their conquest of Indochina during WW1. Post-war they could get concessions in Burma and French Indochina. A stronger, centralized Thailand with control of most of Indochina could stymie any fledgling Communist revolution that the governments far away in Europe could not.

What are your thoughts or the Indian Civil War? Do you think it was inevitable or the result of Indochina succumbing to Communism?

I doubt America would let country not ravaged by the war, and more importantly, a monarchy, turn to communism. Just imagine West Thailand's economic miracle of the 1970s, but extended to the entire country. A friendly Bangkok is all that the Americans needed in Indochina.

As for India, the war was the end result in any scenario. The north-south divide was too strong and the Naxalist movement did not help.

A good POD for avoiding the Thai Republic is the leader of the 1932 Thai Revolution not meeting Sun Yat-Sen as he was influenced by the Kuomintang in proclaiming Thailand a republic.
