DBWI: No Russia Premier Isaac Asimov

As you know, Isaac Asimov became the Russian Premier in 1985. His reforms to the Soviet Union completely altered the cultural and political nature of that nation.

But WI he didn't become premier? What would have happened instead?

He would probably have become a writer and written a SF-novel "The Foundation" where one of the scienticts of fictional profession like psychohistorian named Seldov predicted ruining Great Soviet Empire in near future without such ansd such things made to prevent that.

Unfortunately....

For one the Soviet Union would not exist today...

Unfortunately, with the death of Premier Asimov in 1992, the radical factions of the Politburo led by Vladimir Zhirinovsky seized power in the succession crisis in 1993, until his suspicious "lead poisoning" in 1999 which led to the rise of Premier Vladimir Putin. We certainly remember the 1994 "Second Holocaust" wherein the Jewish populations of Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad were sent away to the "internment camps"....

Then again, without Premier Issac Asimov, someone like General Alexander Lebed might have taken over and launched WWIII in 1986....

We would have been spared the pogroms which followed Asimov's publication of ASIMOV'S BOOK OF COSSACK JOKES which proved the last straw after his previous works such as ASIMOV'S BOOK OF UKRANIAN JOKES, etc.

You don't actually believe that, do you?

That Is Absurd....

That is probably the worst story I have heard in a while. Apparently that was one of the anti-Semitic jokes that was used to explain Asimovs political purges throughout the 1980s. Apparently this was also used to justify Zhirinovsky's own pogroms during the 1990s....

Oberdada- That is certainly true, but did he have to give Saddam Hussein the battle-droids in 1991? or use them to crush the last elements of the Taliban guerillas in 1989?

Is this based on a ATL,or have i entered an alternate universe.

(A Double Blind What If assumes you are in an ATL based on the WI in question, Enjoy)

It is possible that we would not have to have the layer of technology we call Robot Control, which by now has come to totally dominate and offset most of the many benefits of Robots in our society.

After Asimov developed the positronic brain in the 1950's he was rumored to be working on the development of "Three Laws" which would have made it impossible for robots to hurt people. Unfortunately, the Army took over his experiments at this point, and Asimov went into politics as a result, leaving the science to others. We don't even know what the three laws would have been, though there are many speculations.
