The Polish-German war is considered to be the most important event in the 1990s. A border clash between the newly independent Poland (formerly the Polish SSR) and East Germany escalated rapidly, until East German forces laid siege to Szczecin. When East Germany refused an ultimatum to withdraw, Poland struck Dresden, Leipzig, and Magdeburg with tactical nuclear weapons. But with if this war never happened? Would Poland have closer ties to the United States and Western Europe? Would the rise of Strasserists in East Germany have been prevented?
