DBWI: no graf zepplien aircraft carrier

okay what if the graf zepplien aircraft carrier was never finished. think about it, hitler went to visit the commisoning of it, germany's first aircraft carrier, when a allied bombing raid killed hitler and damaged the ship, so hitler would not have been killed if it wasn't for the graf zepplien

Hitler was bound to get wacked. He had too many snakes working with him. The only question was if it would be Speer who wound up on top, like he did IOTL. Can you imagine if that crazy SOB Himmler or Goring wound up in power?

Without Speer, there would never have been the Easter '41 Cease Fire, with the June 6, 1942 Peace Treaty that followed. Can you imagine how bad it would have been in 1950 when Stalin tried to invade the West if it hadn't been for the Heer & Rommel's defense along the Vistula that September 3rd?

Well, there likely wouldn't have been a VC for Guy Gibson then, and 617 Sqn of the RAF wouldn't be known as the 'Hitlerbusters'

Without the Graf Zepplin's awesome grandure to inspire Hitler to reorganize and re-plan the entire military's strategy for invading Britain, the surrender of Great Britain never happens in 1942.

Maybe Goering would still be head of the Luftwafe too? Hitler had him replaced.

(OOC: a> don't be an ass, and b> read the posts above you)

Well, I guess Goering wouldn't have been sacked for letting the RAF bomb at will. How would the Luftwaffe turn out?
We all know Goering wasn't the brightest egg in the basket, so I guess a lot of innovative programs would have been delayed.

If Hitler and the Graf Zepplin go, the Luftwafe may actually see an earlier introduction and refinement of the Me-262.. With far less attention given to producing too many types of different aircraft, the Luftwafte produces the Me-262 in quanity it needs. It rules the skies of Europe by late 1943.

Also on the ground innovations in Tank technology and production would occur if Hitler goes out of the scene.. The heavy Tiger I and replaced by a easier produce and more reliable version of the Panther.

The Sturmgewehr 42 is now the main combat riffle of the Wermacht.. Issued in mass quanity. Hitler's old favorite rifle of the Wermacht Karabiner 98k. The sniper variant is still in wide use with the Wermacht.

OOC: There is a certain convention that is accepted in the "DBWI" threads; specifically that one builds on the posting(s) preceeding your own, keeping the same Alternate TL going, not going in the opposite direction.

This post, while bringing up interesting possibilities, deals with OTL's likely events, not the ATL the poster created.

Rather spoils the fun that way.

The Graf Zeppelin was a daft idea... one lone aircraft carrier to face all those of Britain's?! The Kriegsmarine should have used all that metal and labor to build more U-boats, the one naval weapon that would be useful against Britain...
