DBWI: No Desilu

OOC: Inspired by 'That wacky redhead', by Brainbin.

In 1986, during an interview with Barbara Walters, Lucille Ball declared that she'd once thought of selling Desilu, her production studio, to Paramount, but changed her mind after a dream where actress Carole Lombard advised her against it.

But what if she'd sold it? Would it actually change something?

Desilu is pretty much the company of last resort.

Their famous for hiring directors, actors, and writers who have been black listed for one reason or another, and are willing to try pretty much everything. And go for markets that most people don't bother with.

Religious movies, neo westerns, neo noir, art house movies, documentaries, its a company that doesn't give you a large budget but gives you a huge amount of freedom, and when they hit pay dirt they hit it huge.

With out them around hollywood probally takes 2 steps to the left politically, and some movies simply do not get made at all.
