DBWI: No Chinese Splintering

Today marks the first anniversary of the United Chinese Federation, comprising of the formet states of the People's Republic of Manchuria, The Northern Republic of China (Beijing), the Southern Republic of China (Nanjing-Shanghai), the Xinjiang People's Republic, the Pearl River State (Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau and nearby provincess), Mongolia, and Taiwan. Already, this behemoth of a country has surpassed the economies of Japan, India, and United Europe, but still half of what the USA produces. Tensions with Japan and ASEAN have vanished following the Treaty of Mutual Benefit Regarding the Seas, which is seen by most to be the start of a third global power block to counter the hegemony of NATO and the USSR.

What if the area of the former Qing Dynasty remained largely intact following yhe massive upheavals and wars suffered by China in the last century? Would they have successfully repelled the Japanese and Soviet incursions into their territory and prevented the European seizure of the Pearl River Delta?

OOC: When did Europeans seize the Pearl River Delta?
After China splintered into so many states and warlords in the 20s-40s, the Europeans, most especially the UK, France, and Portugal 'occupied' the Pearl River Delta for 'safeguarding' their colonies
