DBWI Nixon was brought down by some scandal?

I'm sure we all know that Nixon was dogged by rumors of shadiness in his presidency, but nothing was ever proven. Let's say that some scandal did arise in the first two years of his second term, and that he either resigned or was impeached. Let's assume Agnew would have already resigned like OTL by that point as well. What would the political effects of said scandal be in the midterms and 1976? Could the looming scandal affect his replacement VP pick?

We wouldn't see the main domestic accomplishment of the Nixon's second term, the health care program. Nixon Care was controversial at the time but has become a sacred cow. Of course the effect of Nixon being forced from office depends on the timing. If he has to leave office before Agnew's resignation then the American people have to swallow two big scandals. If he has to resign after then we would have seen what kind of President Gerald Ford would have made.

The thing to remember about Nixon is that while not many would say they loved the guy the way they did JFK or Biden, but he was an effective president. It would be hard to find a way to bring him down given that he was very successful at pursuing his agenda. On top of that he was a good politician so he knew how to keep himself clean enough to avoid tarnishing himself beyond salvaging.

Nixon's leadership inaugurated another American century.

Imagining Nixon falling prey to a scandal, that's like imagining Ike becoming a pro golfer.

Without Nixon we wouldn't have had three successive two-term Republican presidents. Between him and Reagan, the Republican brand was completely reinvented, and the Democrats nearly destroyed themselves trying to find a way to challenge them. If it wasn't for Biden, I think we'd be a one-party state by now.

Some say one two-term and one four-term, if you accept oft-spouted beliefs about the role of GHW Bush (and Baker) in the Reagan administration.

The only way the Democrats could succeed was by trying to out-Nixon Nixon. Biden plays the sober statesperson pretty well. (OOC: His handlers use a Nixon-admin style approach to keeping the boss "safe.")
