DBWI: Napoleon Succeeds

What if the attempted Coup of 18 Brumaire was not defeated by Royalist/Jacobite forces? How would Napoleon lead France? Would the European Revolutionary Wars still happen?

I doubt he'd amount to much more than a flash in the pan. All these TLs about Napoleon as some uber-general who stomps his way across Europe are pure ASB.

I don't see who is going to liberate south America if not Bonaparte - admitted, Simon Bolivar was a quite capable general in Napoleon's forces, but he was an incurable idealist and a terrible politician.

Also, there are some theories that the American continent would now be dominated by Anglo-Saxon forces if Napoleon hadn't united everything from Oregon to La Plata.

There were only one or two jacobites in the thousands of the great royalist insurrection of 1799.

French monarchists didn't care about British pretenders.

All these TLs about Napoleon as some uber-general who stomps his way across Europe are pure ASB.

Even if he is known especially for colonial guerilla, he performed some military miracles in Italy. I heard that he was a reasonable artilleryman - sadly, most of the literature on him is in Spanish.
