DBWI: My First imperial Holiday.

HI, well, it's my gap year, and me and my girlfreind have been interested in the Imperial Holiday scheme. But the British Empire-Commanwealth is a big place, and we can't decide which part to travel, or what to take or what not to take. Any Ideas anyone? (Prefably somewhere affordable but nice.)

Thats a good idea, Sylvie (My Girlfriend mentiond above), has been dying to go to Africa, and especialy on a safari. But do you think we could afford the Airship Fairs, BIA has been raising there fares recently, and i don't think me and Sylvie are game enoguh to try economy class. (You know, 5 stakcked Bunks in shared quarters with glass floors:mad:)

Well the "Boston Citybreak" may seem tempting, but remember it's only a hundred miles or so from the frontlines on the Quebec boarder. It's pretty good, so long as you don't mind dodging SCUDS after you finish your meal at a fancy restaurant.

If it's a peaceful beach holiday you want, then I'd recommend the Imperial Dominion of Palestine, you can spend the day lying around soaking up the sun then spend the night choosing between Jewish, Arabic and Greek restaurants or getting wasted in one of the many nightclubs. (The IDoP has the highest amount of nightclubs per capita in the world!)

It's also one of the safest places on earth, ranking 2nd overall (Just behind the Kalmar Union) on the League of Nation's peace index.

Evan better idea, Sylvies got relitives living in Plaestine, and i hear the beech resorts in Gaza are to die for(OTL:rolleyes:), and what about whilst we're in the area, i hear there are some good, cheap, decent nile cruisis going down into the Sudan (Always wanted to see the Genreral Gordon memorial in karthoum). Any other ideas Anyone?

I'm still trying out for a working holiday at Victoria Dome, but competition for Lunar placements is extremely fierce. I've been training and studying like mad. Wish me luck, eh? :)

I would skip Palestine and Jerusalem because of the tendency of Zionist terrorists to be tossing bombs about. There are a lot of Jews and Muslims that reside peacefully together in the area, but it is the ultra-right wing Zionist groups that are making life terrible for everyone. The High Commissioner's life has been threatened at least twice in the last three years.

If you can't make up your mind, there are always the luxery cruises (not just for the rich anymore). They have several localized ones, but also a world run that goes from New Zealand to India (well, just the Sothern Tip reall, its a big place) to South Africa to Jamaca then through the Nicaragua Canal (wouldn't want to go around would you, sure you got another stop at the Fawklands, but thats hardly a tourist area) to Hawaii to Hong Kong and then back. Of course you can get on at any of the stops, so you shouldn't have too much trouble catching it.

"If you're looking for an active, outdoorsy kind of holiday, the mountains in the border between the Imperial Dominion of India and the Imperial Dominion of Afghanistan are simply spectacular, there a few hardcore mountain-climbing tours going, but if you look around you can find some slower-paced tours, either hiking or horse-riding.

The best one I've found so far is a trip between Jalalabad and Kabul.

It's about 50 miles on horseback with some fantastic views and the locals are very friendly.

(The salt tea they offer you is disgusting, but it's an insult to refuse so bottoms up, eh?)

Earl Alfred Bottomly-Pippington, Order of His Majesty's Royal Explorers, 2nd class."

I heard that Australia used to be nice before the war. Still they have alot of museums and war memorials there, if your into that kind of thing. Shame New Zealand is basically off the visiting list however...

It's hard to argue against Rhodesia. Stay at the Livingstone Resort near Victoria Falls or the Jameson Imperial in Salisbury, and enjoy the Safari. If you can handle the heat, as mentioned. In the summer here (which is opposite to Britain, FYI) it gets as high as 35 degrees Celsius. Bring water and lots of it.

Another good choice is the Lake Louise and Jasper area is Western Canada. Beautiful part of the world, that. :)

If Sylvie like Africa, i suggest a Cape to Cairo trip. If you want to do it on the cheap, the third-class tickets aren't that expensive, you get to see Victoria falls, Salisbury tower, the Pyramids and all that wilderness in between. Getting to Cape Town by steamer isn't that expensive either.
