OOC:

It's a DBWI thread. You're supposed to imagine we're living in a time-line where Saudi Arabia is liberal, and speculate about how we can get it to be more like the real Saudi Arabia we all know in the real time-line.

Oh, and OOC means "out-of-character". I'm speaking from the real world.

OOC:

I apologise greatly! I feel so ridiculous!

"DBWI" means "Double Blind What If". It is a "what if" thread from the perspective of an alternate timeline discussing what if a situation similar to OTL (Our Time Line) occurred in their timeline.

I honestly can't tell if this message is a joke or not.

A clean human rights record? The most liberal in the gulf?

I don't think many Yemenites would view Saudi Arabia as being pro-human rights or "liberal".
IC: I think he meant that despite saudi arabia being democratic, is backing Yemeni dictators.

And this is unusual for regional power players... how? Not that I approve, but Arabia isen't exactly alone in pushing authoritarian rather than democratics governments on their neighbors in order to get the ideological alignment it wants. Its just a little more hypocritical and ironic however to do so in the name of "freedom and progress" (as we define it!) weather the locals want it or not.

True.. I didn't liked it. Similar to how japan and South korea supported that military junta in Laos.
