DBWI: Maximilian of Austria does not die on 1482

What if Maximilian of Austria does not die in 1482 due to falling on a horse, does it prevent the partition of Burgundy which happened due to the remarriage of Mary of Burgundy to Charles VIII of France.

In fact, the "partition" you speak of isn't so much a partition since Marie never held certain parts - being disqualified due to her gender and them reverting to the French crown. Charles simply "recreated" the dukedom of Burgundy for their second son (and it was never carved off of France in like manner as the previous creation), and Marie's son by Maximilian, Philipp, inherited all the lands which allowed Marie to succeed. What I never understood was why Marie remarried in the first place, TBH

Yes but Franche Comte and Artois passed to her second son..this had caused French ambitions in Rhineland to go unchecked.
