I read somewhere that former Miami Dolphins and Hurricanes and for his last two seasons Broncos linebacker Marco Rubio thought of a congress run in 2008 when he briefly thought of retirement around that time.

If this would of happen what do you think his political career been like?

Cuban American..popular in Florida...could have got a seat in congress...maybe in the Senate...not sure if he would have run as a democrat or republican

Of course he has done a good job on MNF

It's possible he could have gone for a political career, but I think he's pretty happy with that Gold Jacket he just got.

Considering how sack happy he got during the 1999-2000 playoffs, especially against Warner, I think Marino's pretty happy too.

If he run for florida, even depeding the party he would won easily, he is a living legend in florida(his broncos year are only know in denver seems even if those were still pretty good). IIRC he seems to be into the 'traditionalist' maybe a social conservative and more liberal in other areas? he might become a voice for hispanic descendant in the florida pretty easy.

But Depends what he want to make, maybe start politics over football? as @Swoosh92 say, the dolphins are grateful as he was the man who stopped the point scoring machine was kurt warner and allow marino retires with the ring he always wanted, if that is butterfly away would be pretty sad..

No one seems to remember that back in college he was the first Defensive Heisman trophy winner back in 1994.

Really, he could still do that. Look at Barry Obama - a few seasons with the Bulls, a run for Mayor of Chicago, and they say he's gearing up for the Governorship next year. Maybe Rubio will run for Governor, or for Bill Nelson's seat in the Senate. I suspect he'd be a Republican, but it is hard to say - he's kept mum about that kind of issue.
Anyway, had he run in 2008, he'd have been able to get a seat - maybe in the 22nd, which was the closest plausible seat OTL. After that, I'm not sure - maybe he'd spend a couple of terms learning the ropes, maybe he'd have gone for the Senate in 2010. Who can say?

Ever since we got President Bradley, every celebrity is poised for a run for office.

Yep, he definitely did a good job with his career! :)

Also, though, radical idea, but I suspect that Marco Rubio might actually become U.S. President in this TL; after all, just like Obama played into his Blackness to win the White House, Rubio's Latino ancestry and story could help him win a lot of traditionally Latino Democrats and thus win the U.S. Presidency after the GOP nominates him in order to appeal to a more diverse America! :)

Those two super bowl teams 1999 and 2002 are quite impressive seeing that 99 had a still great but not as good and very old Marino and 2002 had Jay Fielder as their QB.
