DBWI: Make Britian and France Switch fates?

OOC: I was thinking that the English Civil War had been averted, for one thing, or possibly ended with a quick Royalist victory, but events in France might have been diverging even before that.

Also OOC: We might want to clarify the situation in North America as well. Given the mention of some sort of "Colombia" it sounds like at least one English colony survives the Family War--perhaps Virginia remains while much of New England is annexed by a victorious France? And then afterwards some portion of the French colonies become independent as *Louisiana...

OOC: This is the problem with these DBWIs, nobody can ever agree on one single timeline within character :p

I'm not sure the French would annex New England. For reference here's the North American theater of the Seven Year's War, and here's French possession in North America prior to the war. It seems more likely to me that the French would press their claims and retake their lost colonies, which would leave the British with only a reduced 13 Colonies - which could potentially go on to become Colombia.

OTL's Georgia would likely fall to the Spanish, with Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky becoming French territory. France would also take large slices out of Western Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. French Louisiana would revolt at some point in the next thirty or so years afterward, taking all French possessions along the Mississippi south of the Great Lakes into a new, independent, republican nation - and likely one with good ties to the native Indian community, for a unique inversion of the analogy. This would leave British 'Colombia' as mostly coastal territory, with the northern and southern colonies barely joined together by a thin strip of land in Maryland. So ITTL's Upper Colombia and Lower Colombia, with the Colombian Revolution taking place in one of those areas breaking away from the British, or at least attempting to, perhaps à la Texas if they're successful, and if not more like the Rebellions of 1837. Does that sufficiently, if roughly, resolve North America for the first hundred years or so after the POD?

*OOC If the northern French Colonies go then I think it would be called Quebec for simplicities sake. What I'm imagining is Colombia being Virginia south while Quebec is the colonies north. Independence wise I think Columbia gets independence through French aid, and Quebec gets a lot of help from Colombian and English aid (causing England to go bankrupt, again). I see these states being essentially the same with the exception of Columbian being English speaking, and having Slaves. Further down the line we might see the two coming together with Columbia removing the Slaves.
Louisiana could be the name of the union?

OOC: See my above response as to French claims. Also French North America above the Great Lakes was generally called Canada in this period. The name Quebec only arose after the British took control of the area.

OOC: This is a really interesting idea and I'm scouring Wikipedia looking up quite a bit about the history and writing down notes for a map, or potential TL. But I have a question; assuming Prince William, Duke of Gloucester lived, who would his potential brides be, and who would he most likely select?

IMPOSSIBLE

As have any of you heard Britains' National anthem!?

It says "Britons shall never, never, never be slaves"

And any monarchy is the same as slavery.

RULE BRITANNIA

ooc: hope this doesn't contradict any one

As did you French, iirc.. By the way, paying half your wages for King Henri and his inbred Royal Family to spend all their time travelling the World on luxury yachts, hows that working out for you? :D

OOC:What did you assume? Yes I am wallon I don't see a problem with it.

OOC: I didnt really assume anything, that was really meant as a joke and there's no problem either way I have no xenophobia towards anyone.
The reason I was asking was because its unclear to me who actually banned slavery first in the OTL, and then I didn't know if that aspect of history was flipped too. Anyway sorry for confusion, carry on! :)

How does all this effect the balance of power in Europe? Does this butterfly away events like the Sicilian Revolution? Or would there still be copycat revolutionary waves regardless?

That ones hard to tell, likely had there been no revolution or gradual change there would have been a 1870* style general revolution across Europe sometime simply due to the ever growing discontent amongst the workers.

* OOC: roughly analogous to the 1848 Revolutions, except with a few successes.

Any TL that will butterfly away the Deutsch Sozialistische Räterepublik is good in my book.

(OOC: I'm sure AH.com law requires that somewhere, somehow, there must be a Soviet Union analog)
