What if Erich Ludendorff had not been elected German president in 1925? Would WW2 still happen?? Many consider Ludendorff's presidency as the start of German revengism.

The far right would have ended up in power anyways during the depression. Maybe more extremist than the average military dictatorship which ended up in power.

Of course, Germany might have done better in the war if a more competent group ended up in power. White Russia might survived the war intact, and Germany might have been able to stop the Anglo-French offensives in 1943 which took the Rhineland, it was a pretty close fight.

Why so sure of it? Why not far left? Or rather, an attempt of far left to rise to power causing a civil war.

White Russia surviving? Hah!

Generals in Russia spend 20's and early 30's fighting each other. That they were eventually able settle their differencies, was a small wonder by it self and wouldn't have happened without external pressure.

And anyway, by the time WW2 started, country was ready for a new revolution.

I'm not surprised really. Ludendorff lost them the last war, fitting that he lost them the next.
