DBWI Ludendorff not breaking with the Nazis

Erich Ludendorff was one of the most powerful politicians in the Weimar Republic, and his election in 1925 as president meant a revival of strong wave of right- wing and nationalist policies. One of his most important decisions was to not participate in the Beer Hall Putsch, a fiasco orchestrated by a psychotic nationalist named Adolf Hitler and after that cutting all ties with the Nazi party. But what if he had not broken his ties with the Nazis, after the failed putsch they became a very unpopular party and if Ludendorff was associated with them he would probably not have won the presidential election of 1925, another war hero; Paul von Hindenburg planned to participate and perhaps he would have if Ludendorff was weak. Could Hindenburg had won if he had run for president?? Or could the authoritarian right had lost the election, and perhaps WW2 could have been avoided?? Any thoughts?
