DBWI: Less hybridisation between Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthal?

Since the first discovery of the extinct Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthal, the question of which was the direct ancestor of our people has been hotly debated, due to the number of traits we shared with both. We now know, thanks to genetic evidence that every person on earth has roughly the same amount of genes from both species, with maybe a 0.01% more Neanderthal in some Eurasians, and about the same amount more Homo Sapien genes among Africans. So, what if instead of both species being driven to extinction by our ancestors, the two races either never cross breed, or cross breed less?

OOC: Just to clarify, the POD is extensive cross breeding between Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthal creating a third species which out competed both to extinction.

Well, Neanderthals were generally stronger, maybe they'll just wipe the Sapiens out. I cant see them co-existing.

OOC: Are we any different? Stronger? Less stamina?

OOC: As a general rule of thumb think, "half way between" We have more muscle then homo sapiens, but less than Neanderthals, taller then Neanderthals, but slightly shorter then OTL modern humans. As for the face, we have both the Neanderthal brow ridge, and the Homo Sapiens chin.

You might consider looking at my thread, Age of Hominids: The Four Races.

we have descriptions of both species on there

One would out preform the other, or they would out preform each other in their habitats. H.N. would be in more of the northern hemisphere and H.S. would have more of the southern hemisphere.

If the Neanderthals did not go extinct and advanced before the Humans arrived, the Humans would have been expelled from Europe.

I don't see there would be much difference.

If the Cromagnon won, due to population, we'd have smaller hip-bone channel, which could be a problem giving birth (strange for a group that bred so fast).
If the Neanderthal won, all girls would have those sexy supercilliar arc, i expect *drools* :D (guys too, but that hardly matters).

I'd like to point out Many primatologists consider that the 3 species were in fact only 3 subspecies: Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, Homo Sapiens Cromagnonensis and Homo Sapiens Sapiens. So, speaking of "hybridization" would be unwarranted. It would be closer to "interracial" :D

Isn't there an uncontacted tribe in the Andamans with >70% sapiens DNA, and the rest largely Denisovan/East Neanderthalensis? People would probably look like that.

Well yes, but they where isolated for thousands of years.

Another question, diet? The Homo Sapiens had smaller teeth, tiny blunted canines, and only had vestigial third molars which didn't erupt past the gum line, which some scientists theorise would've limited them to a mostly plant biased diet. Neanderthals on the other hand seem to have eaten mostly meat. Does a lack of hybridisation mean that the evolution of omnivorous diets as we know them is less likely?

Homo sapiens had larger brains, I believe. I could see them eventually outsmarting homo neanderthal, and dominating the whole world.
