DBWI: Lenin survived

As we all know OTL, Lenin's rule over Russia was cut short by an anarchist in Moscow on August 30 1918.

What would have happened if Lenin had survived?

I think the Soviet Union wouldn't be around as it is now, and maybe not as strong. After all, the ones who replaced him laid down the framework for the Soviet economy, which rides strong even today. Perhaps that trouble in the 1920s would have gone smoother tho'.

Agreed however his influence might have led to the bolsheviks taking power and maybe even the rest of Europe becoming radicalized.

Yeah, perhaps with his help that German revolution would have come about and the name "Union of Soviet Republics of Eurasia" would have become that much more accurate.

OOC: Not kidding. Lenin suggested the name Union of Soviet Socialist Republics... Stalin wanted to name it the Union of Soviet Republics of Europe and Asia. No Lenin... I'm assuming Stalin's suggestion gets through.

Well, Uncle Joe (Stalin) *probably* wouldn't come to power, and Trotsky *probably* wouldn't get whacked in Mexico City with an icepick (lolwut). In my view the USSR would prove very dynamic, with more SSRs joining than in OTL. The Union, however, might take longer to modernize technologically (lowerting survival chances in WWII). But if Germany revolts as suggested above, then my knowledge of modern history is rendered completely irrelevent after 1918 :D

Good topic!
