DBWI: Kafka's Cultural Impact

Hi everybody. Since today is the 40th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death, I wanted to ask you what you think about his works and the works of people who were inspired by his works.
By the way, did you know that he was very reluctant to publish his works when he was young? Thank God, he changed his mind later!

OCC: My first try at this kinda thing. Well, some rules/suggestions: Up to 1945, political history is like in OTL, although popular culture can already be changed. I also would prefer Kafka to stay an artist and not becoming a politician or pro wrestler.
Apart from that, go crazy! How does the pop culture of our time in this time line look like?
By the way; what does dbwi actually mean? I think the wi means 'what if', but what about the db?
