We wouldn't have him as president in 2008 and no black VP that's for sure
Dude nobody could have handled the Financial Crisis that good. Kennedy did his best that nearly anyone could doObama might not be President now, possibly meaning we wouldn't get our first black President in 2017. If not Kennedy, Clinton would probably have been elected in 2008. Might Clinton have handled the financial crisis any better than Kennedy?

What was interesting was how Kennedy effectively ended the 'Second Cold War'. He successfully withdrew the United States from Afghanistan, but stayed in Iraq to intervene in Syria. The Russians were irked by this because they wanted to intervene on Assad's behalf. He also rallied NATO to intervene military against Russia in Ukraine. They were pushed out of Crimea within a few months and Russia's economy began collapsing.
OOC: I edited my post to read, 'intervene non-militarily.'OOC: Wouldn't this start WWIII?

Well, NATO didn't physically intervene, but they gave Ukraine a massive amount of cash and weaponry that frustrated the Russians like in Afghanistan. The Ukrainians managed to turn the war around and push Russia out of Crimea. Russia's economy began collapsing as a result.
Kennedy also responded effectively to North Korea's underground nuclear tests in 2013. These were both seen as foreign policy victories for President Kennedy, Vice President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, and that one Republican Secretary of Defense who later defected to the Democrats.
Yes, it has. With Russia and North Korea contained, Obama was able to focus on China, which showed its true colors when President Xi announced he would be President for life and started making plays for Taiwan.Yeah Kennedy was quite effective in foreign policy. He took a page from his dad in using tough diplomacy to resolve problems without starting any wars. Do you think President Obama's foreign policy has lived up to that of his predecessor?
The United States Presidential Election of 2008 was interesting, because Kennedy faced the man his uncle Ted Kennedy defeated fourteen years prior, Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Ted Kennedy's funeral in 2009 was arguably a defining moment during Kennedy's presidency. President Kennedy bidded farewell to his uncle, while then Secretary of State John Kerry, who did not run for re-election in the United States Senate Election in Massachusetts of 2008, bidded farewell to a mentor. Ed Markey won Kerry's Senate seat, while Martha Coakley was appointed to Ted Kennedy's. Massachusetts had new blood in the United States Senate before 2010.Kennedy's presidency wasn't all sunshine and roses. Remember that the GOP regained control of the House in 2011, and the Tea Party engaged the President in a tense showdown over the debt. They practically held the country's finances hostage in order to humiliate Kennedy. This turned out to be a mistake, as Kennedy outsmarted them by ordering the Treasury to mint a trillion dollar coin to finance the national debt. The Democrats regained control of the House in 2012, the same year Kennedy defeated Rick Santorum in a landslide. Ted Cruz improved the GOP's performance in 2016, but he still lost to Obama.

With Romney not running in 2012, and instead running for retiring Senator Bob Bennett's Senate seat in 2010, the GOP field was open and divided.

That's right. He was bitter towards Romney after losing the New Hampshire Primary of 2008, but reluctantly endorsed Romney anyway. John McCain did not run for re-election in the United States Senate Election in Arizona of 2010, which allowed Representative Jeff Flake to win his Senate seat. McCain left the United States Senate on January 3rd, 2011. Kennedy nominated McCain to serve as Secretary of Defense in November 2012, after Wesley Clark announced he did not want to serve a second term. You mean the late John McCain? He was a great Secretary of Defense.

His motives for staying with the Democratic Party are unknown. It seems he changes loyalties more often than he changes his clothes. Some might say he joined because of New York solidarity, but even though he praised Kennedy in late 2007, he endorsed Mitt Romney for President in early 2008 and questioned the legitimacy of Obama's citizenship. He praised Kennedy's nomination of Clinton as Secretary of State, but made public suggestions that the United States condone Russian and North Korean aggression. He expressed dislike for both Obama and Ted Cruz in 2016, and even considered reviving the Reform Party and running as its nominee. He approved of Clinton being tapped for VP, but then threw her under the bus. Ironically, he rags on China and yet majority of his products are made there. I think he is staying with the Democrats because he might want to sabotage them. If the rumors are true and Mitt Romney runs for President again in 2020, do you think he'll support Romney over Obama? Although, he did bad mouth Romney for losing in 2008.One man who is very happy with Obama's China policy is Democratic donor Donald Trump.
