DBWI Imperialism ends

The Imperial system has been going on for hundreds of years now.

The british empire, The french, well you get the idea, I mean even we americans have Cuba and the Philipines. A system where european, Japanese, American, and turks rule multiethnic empires and impose their will. Much has been lost because of this, and dispite the ocasional revolt the boarders of the empires of the world have remained more or less static since 1912.

But what if this system ended, take the attemped assasination of the Archduke, if that had succedded that could have created a war that could have ended the imperial era.

What would our world look like with out imperialism with out empire?

Well Europe would be highly unstable with out the merger of Austria-Hungary and German empires into reestablished Holy Roman Empire that put a wettin on the throne as holy roman emperor as a compromise and secured the now famous British partnership. Could you imagine Wilhelm II as the leader?!

German socialism and British imperialism ushered in the foundations for the free trade block, and the Hannover accords that created a council of empires to settle disputes and trade agreements. This over the last 90 years has created the African revitalization and renewal project that has brought higher standards of living and European like education and life to Africa. Roads, railroads, airports, derigidable stations.
Cape Town to Cairo is a marvel of the world

Interestingly, what was once the Empire of Japan split into three Imperial Republics--Japan, Korea and Manchuria, quasi-constitutional monarchies (the royal families have more influence than the British royal family, though not with the political power like the old English kings). The Imperial Republic of Japan today is the four traditional Home Islands plus all of Karafuto, the entire Kuril Islands chain, the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and a number of former Germany colony islands in the Pacific (including all of the Marianas). Small wonder why Japan has such an unusually large standing Navy today and the most modern fishing and merchant shipping fleet in the world.

Africa would be in a much worse state than it is today. Of course, we might avoid much of the bloodshed caused by the Great Anti-Imperialist uprisings across Africa in the '60s and '70s, but it's very possible that the artificial nature of colonial borders would lead to just as much death and suffering in the event of independence.

Europe might be much less significant than it is now. Britain certainly wouldn't be a superpower, almost definitely, especially if they lost India rather than promoting them to Dominion status as in OTL.

The UK would certainly be less cosmopolitan. We certainly wouldn't had our first black PM, Yoweri Museveni, from 1991-1998.

I wonder if technology would have gone in a different direction? The great eastern bridge stretches over a hundred miles connecting Florida with Cuba. Even the golden gate and the Brooklyn pale in comparison. I even heard talks of possibly building one from San Diego to Honolulu.
