DBWI: I'm off to the Opera...

Tonight the Met is going to be putting on a performance of Beethoven's second (and last) opera MacBeth. Looking ahead on the schedule, it looks like it is going to be an exciting season. Next month they'll be performing Wagner's Aida! In May, they'll also be putting on a new production of Dvorak's Hiawatha! Anyone else planning on going?

OOC: OTL Beethoven started to plan for an opera called Macbeth, but died before it was finished. TTL wagner recieves the commission to write Aida. OTL Dvorak breifly considered writing Hiawatha, but instead wrote his New World Symphony.

OOC: Yes, I would be interested in discussion further. Perhaps not necessarily as a DBRP ...

If Beethoven writes another opera, that would produce a significant better starting position for the German opera in the 19th century, so I guess your Wagner-Aida assumption is plausible.
