DBWI: Hungary without Transylvania?

Transylvania had always been a major part of the "Lands of the Crown of St. Stephen". However, towards the end of the First World War, the Entente had considerations of splitting Transylvania off, probably to join a pro-Entente Romania. What if this plan had come to pass and greatly reduced the size of Hungary?

More resentment in the Kingdom of Hungary (which still exists to this day)? Maybe more harshness towards the defeated Central Powers as a whole could have led to a Second World War fought not against the Soviet Union but Germany (and possibly a "Silent War" against Communism instead of Fascism)?

With an angered, revanchist Hungary, perhaps radical monarchism would taken control of Hungary, as it did the Kingdom of Italy and Empire of Japan.

Well, it was always going to be a thing in Japan given the issues from the Meiji Constitution. Though with butterflies...the Japanese were considered allies because of the war with the USSR - it was only after that that they were considered part of the Fascist Bloc. But if the USSR wasn’t a common enemy, then the US might have ended up at war with Japan and defeated them. Quite different from OTL and getting them to flip from the Fascists - Only Kennedy could go to Japan and all that (and get nice trade deals for all the metals being dug out of Japanese Siberia :p )

Anyways, your thoughts on the long-term survival of the New Roman Empire (what Mussolini renamed Italy in the 1950s) and the Japanese Empire and on whether they'll still be the leaders of the Fascist Bloc or would the Integralists in Brazil, North China, or the Hindutva in Bharat take leadership of the Fascist Bloc in the future?

It would have probably required the war dragging on way past early 1917. However, Emperor Charles was comitted to peace, so I don't see how he would agree to continue the war... maybe if the German-backed coup in Vienna had succeeded perhaps?

So, you're of the opinion that something akin to the Showa Restoration brought about by Sadao Araki and Ikki Kita was inevitable?

Maybe not inevitable but with the lack of oversight of the military...it was certainly highly likely.

Well the Japanese aren’t in the Fascist Bloc anymore - they and wider Greater East Asia have been ‘unofficial allies’ of the US since Kennedy’s Tokyo visit. And they have liberalised a fair amount since the 70s.

As to survival...well, Siberia’s majority Japanese, and as long as they have it Japan’s always going to be a major power... If they can keep their hegemony over the GEACPS is another question of course.

Japanese relations with the Fascist Bloc and the Americans are quite complicated as they are notionally allied with Delhi, Rome, and Brasilia with lots of cooperation between Japan and both Brazil and Bharat but have close ties economically and politically with Washington.

Well Japan owns some huge amount of America’s debt...

When it comes to the Third World, one can expect the Japanese to back anti-Western nationalists in lockstep with the Italians, Bharat, and Brazil even as Tokyo and Washington cooperate in keeping Russia's pro-Italian nationalist government down.
