DBWI: Hitler doen't escape Berlin in 1945?

As we all know, Hitler and other top Nazi officials managed to slip through the fingers of the Allied forces as they were closing in on Germany from all sides. Despite the odds, he and his compatriots made it past the Atlantic Blockade and made their way to Argentina and then the Nazi Antarctic redoubt in New Swabia.

Now despite what some conspiracy nuts would tell us, at the end Hitler was apprehended (turns out frozen wastes of Antarctica isn’t the best place to make your new home – who would have thought?) though at the cost of many more Allied lives. The slogan “the Fürer lives!” has also spurred on Nazi resistance fighters in Europe, further adding to the death toll.

So what if Hitler had committed suicide in Berlin like he was initially planning to? Would that shorten World War 2? What would it do to the Nazi Resistance? What would be the impact on Argentina?

OOC: my take on this. I guess the initial POD would predate 1945 since in the ATL Nazis really did have base(s) in Antarctica.

If the Nazis had been neutralized in Europe, there would have been no need to divert U.S. naval forces from the Pacific to capture Hitler. The battle of Okinawa could have been concluded more speedily, instead of dragging on until July. If Okinawa had fallen more quickly, the Japanese might have surrendered, and it might not have been necessary to drop the bomb. Hitler's shenanigans may have been the major factor that prolonged the Pacific War and led to the devastation of Hiroshima.
