DBWI: Hitler comitts suicide rather than being hauled in front of the Nurenberg trials?"

We all know of the trial and execution of Adolf Hitler. But various sources indicated that he had considered commiting suicide instead of ebing captured, what would of happened had he commited suicide instead of ebing captured?

It might make for an excellent movie set in the bunker as he psychologically unravels, shifting in and out of his delusions before killing himself. Imagine the memes to be had of him screaming at his generals!

The Soviet American split might not have showed up quite as early. They both wanted to execute him, but the Soviets had some more, let's be family friendly about it and say Inventive ideas for how it would happen.

Lots of really dumb conspiracy theories comes about, especially if no body ends up being found (figure they would at least burn the body to avoid desecration, I mean, look at what happened to his buddy Mussolini...).

Yeah, there would be far more folks who think he got away in Argentina like Mengele did (before the Israelis captured him at least). Hell, there are a few folks on the fringe who think we captured and executed a body double OTL, it'd definitely be more prevalent if he wasn't tried and executed.

Well whatever it means, lets hope they hid his body like they did after he was hanged at Nuremberg. Or else neo-nazis will flock to it till present day. Maybe they burn his body till there is nothing left but ash. Much like his victims. Sounds like poetic justice.

After his execution what about making soap and lampshades out of his corpse. They would only be used in the top Nazis that were in prison. To me that would be the most ironic turn about. It's not about Revenge it's more about watching the remaining Nazis see what happened to their fuhrer and their victims the Jews among others.

So assuming Hitler blew his own brains out (which I think he’d have been too much of a coward - I’m sure you’ve heard the stories of him begging to be kept out of Soviet hands...), the surviving Nazis would probably try and acid bath his body. You’d have crack pots for years to come think he’s living on the dark side of the Moon being entertained by Elvis and planning his comeback tour...

Regardless of which universe you live in, that's just pure sadism. Leave that shit for the actual villains to indulge in.

Now would Hitler's suicide tone down the martyrdom that he ended up getting? I mean, after they detoxed him form his cocktail of drugs and shit and it became obvious even to him that he ain't gonna get anything less than a death sentence he did end up using his trial as a soapbox, in which the court got a reminder why he was called the 'silver tongued devil'.

On the other hand, a suicide would make him look like a fucking pussy much like those 13 year old CoD noobs who rage quit after getting their asses handed to them.

Would be much better.

His trial really laid the foundations for modern Nazism.

His ramblings about a new Führer that would arise really inspired a lot of nutbags to become Nazis.

He might have taken other paths, too. If he went out in a blaze of glory, submachine gun in hand, that could create a legend right up with the Alamo, at least along with the true believers.

Wait, better than the memes we already have? That one scene in Downfall (2004) where Bruno Ganz is yelling at his lawyers for their incompetence... *kisses fingers*

It would also mean a lot less understanding of the workings behind the nazis. I mean, the combined statements of both Goring and Hitler answered a lot of questions about who did what and why, uncovered some hidden skeletons. Only Goring's statement won't answer half as much questions. Of course you stil miss Himmler and Goebbels so not enough was answered anyway, but without Hitler it would be only marginal and disappointing.

Hitler not being able to defend himself will probably make him less of the enemy and Goring more as he would be the only "inner circle" nazi put on trial, the highests ranking. He'll carry all the burden. Not sure if Goring can handle that either, since he shared it in OTL with Hitler, who took most of the weight. All questions asked to Hitler would be asked the Goring and answered to the best of his knowledge. He might commit suicide too.

To be fair he may not even have needed to commit suicide to not be dragged up in front of Nuremberg, it’s still amazing that the one soviet officer on the scene was able to stop his troops from beating him to death and dragging his body through the streets. Though I suppose it did sound mighty convenient that when the camera reels showed him post-capture with so many facial bruises and that broken leg... of course as the Soviets said though he just ‘tripped’ leaving the bunker.

Yeah, true, but at least the asshole quotient on the far right is safely herded into that faction and the mainstream right is pretty much restricted to being assholes about money. People are even afraid to be too hardcore Christian because they get lumped in with Nazis.

Ganz was fantastic but I still prefer Sir Laurence Olivier in his Oscar-winning role as Hitler in Stanley Kubrick's Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). Of course a lot of credit must go to Rod Serling's Oscar-winning screenplay as well as Kubrick's adroit direction.
