DBWI Hillary Rodham didn't divorce Bill Clinton?

OOC: Tried to leave it open for you guys.

IC: Well IOTL the divorce was the final nail in Clintons political coffin. He lost that image of him with the supporting wife and daughter and was left alone in the white house to face the end of his second term. It was a nightmare in PR terms and really ended any chances of an effective end to his administration.

Hillary gained much support for her brave decision to leave the President and while the divorce was kept quiet for obvious reasons I am sure when she finally retires from politics her book will dish the dirt and sell millions. It made a clean break between her scandal-ridden husband her new independent career and in the future I am sure that will help.

If they had not divorced? A very cold and fake political marriage, which is only maintained for Hillary’s career. I can’t see it myself. She made a name for herself by leaving the President over the Lewinsky scandal. Staying with him would just leave a massive weight hung around her neck for her whole future.

just think how many interms we do not know about, yet it was political suicide for hillary... she all but fell off the face of the earth had it been for her media stunt.

(OOC: These don't match up.)

Clinton did leave the presidency with an image of failure, but can anyone really claim he failed after seeing W's presidency?

Honestly, I think it could have led to a Democratic president in 2008. Once again, the Democrats completely failed to nominate someone capable of beating a mediocre GOP candidate. Of course, no one knew John Edwards was sleeping around, and the fact that we found out in August really hurt us (Bill Richardson as the Democratic nominee? Come on, seriously.) I think that had Hilary's campaign for president had Bill's backing, she could have done serious damage. But I just don't think that a women's rights lawyer from Little Rock would have any major chance of winning the presidency.

I did hear that she was considering running against Giuliani for Senator in 2000 in NY. Imagine if she hadn't divorced Bill, and had run in that election. Would she have a chance against Rudy? Do you think that he still would have been elected president in 2008 had she run against him, or would it get butterflied out? 8 years was an awful short time in the senate to get nominated (esp. because McCain had like 30), but his argument that running NYC was like being a governor of an important state had a lot of currency.
