Shortly after his expulsion from Rugby School in 1839, Harry Flashman joined up into the 11th Dragoons and rather quickly got himself challenged to a duel with another officer. He survived (and in the process got his first bit of fame en route to becoming the celebrated Victorian adventurer-war hero he was by the end of his life). However, what if he had been shot? What would happen to the British Empire without its most famous defender?
