DBWI Heath Ledger not cast as Anakin Skywalker

I'm trying to come up with an alternative pop culture timeline. Any idea who George Lucas would have cast as Anakin Skywalker if he hadn't cast Heath Ledger, who was pretty unknown at the time? Would have there been butterflies due to the different direction in Ledger's acting career?

OOC: Yeah, I looked this up. Ledger was two years older than Hayden Christianson, and in 2000 when the casting decision was made there wasn't much reason to choose one or the other. One was a pretty unknown Canadian actor and the other a pretty unknown Australian actor.

Honestly it would be a disaster, Health Ledger had the brass ones nessary to get the orginal lines rewritten, the balls to rift and the skill to pull it off. Read the first drafts that came up seariously their god damned terrible, Heath Ledger and Samuel L Jackson saved the second two movies and prevented it from being a disaster like the first one.

He was EXCELLENT as Anakin in Episode 3. He managed to make a pretty boy SCARY. Probably his best moment was how he acted with his face after Grievous killed Padme; you could totally believe his hate and his anger. All in all, he did a great job bringing Darth Vader to life. I think his portrayal of Anakin also made it much easier for Nolan to justify casting him as the Joker in the Dark Knight. If he hadn't already proven himself, we may have seen someone like Hayden Christensen or something as the Joker, and imagine how much that would have sucked! Instead, Ledger's Joker has been one of the most consistently present villains in the DCCU, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
