DBWI: Healthcare in the CSA?

OK, I don't want to fuel a heck of a flamewar going on, but how many of the people involved were actually committed Reds, like the Wobblies? I would assume a minority of people. There was some country that had a "White Terror" several decades ago in an attempt to crush its Communist Party, and they only managed to capture a fraction of its Communists - the rest were just ordinary people who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.. Fortunately, I'm not Communist, so that's not a problem with me. (considering that in Puerto Rico, we jokingly refer to it as cummunismo, since it sounds like one of our vulgarisms :D).

OOC: All IC.
It really isn't important how many were commited Reds and how many merely used the language to cover thier terrorism. The fact remains that California consistently funded and funds groups espousing socialist ideologies that commit acts of terror in the CSA. For our government to react in any other way to a clear and present danger would be folly of the worst order.

It's always disturbing how quickly the "Connies" are willing to go into their "sob story" about how they are so oppressed. Of all the states of the Union, California unfortunately has the unusual distinction of suffering the brunt of so many "Connie" refugees since the First Great War. Whenever there is a economic or political problem, the refugees from Alabama to South Carolina think that they can just slum it up in Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara...

As for racism, before the "Connies" get on their high horse, might I point out "the Congaree Socialist Republic" which has been attacked by the CSA in "police actions" in 1948, 1951, 1967, 1973, 1991, and most recently in 2003. It seems "self-determination" and secession are a birth-right, as long as you are white. Also, don't ask about the mass graves of African-Americans that have been uncovered in places like Rosewood, FL; or ask why Birmingham, AL is called "Bombingham" by the colored populace....

OOC: Sorry for the revival but I was away when this shot up.

After the new case in the Supreme Court ended today, they overturned their old choice and now say national healthcare is constitutional. So I thought I'd return to this discussion.

OOC: All is forgiven.

Now that is interesting. I did hear about it on the TV news today, and that's a bit of a relief. However, I have to ask a few questions:

1. How will this help with the health care infrastructure problem? Did the Supreme Court mention anything about the bribes needed to obtain access to health care, or the huge medical tourism boom in Puerto Rico?
2. How will the political types handle this? I'm sure they're probably shocked that this ruling came down at all. What was the justification?
3. If national health insurance does go forward, what will the options be on the table? Would they still go for the very flawed Albertan system or would they be open to other models, like our own Unified Health System here in Puerto Rico?

Just wondering.

It's hard to figure all this out since most of the news is just yelling into the camera, I've only lived in the CSA for less than a year and politics still baffle me here. Back in the USA this was much easier to understand, I think they're leaning towards a Puerto Rico style though, from what I could understand.

You're not the only one who gets baffled by CSA politics. At least politics in Puerto Rico, for me, is easier to understand - then again, that's because I'm Puerto Rican born and bred and I live in Puerto Rico, so it's only natural. :D

In the CSA? That's good news.

In the CSA? That's good news.

The governor of Texas is threatening to secede, The President of The Plains Republic called him a dumbass, it's getting crazy down here, I miss the sweet union, but I'll stick with my college here unless troops take to the streets.

The left winged members of congress wants to push the Healthcare, but the president and the right wingers probably will stop it for now.

There you go - politics as usual for the CSA. Seriously, it's stuff like this that makes me think that maybe all the talk about "reunification" with the 'North' could actually tone down the craziness that happens over there. Seriously, if the craziness in the CSA is enough to actually be fodder for comedy, you know you have a problem.

I'm still glad I pick up my "Yankee" networks from here. Also, there are protesters filling the streets here, the healthcare debate is getting huge.
