So, with Wal-Mart's recent announcement that it will exclusively back Toshiba's HD DVD technology, what is the future of Sony's apparently failed Blu-Ray technology, and where do you think both companies are headed?

(OOC)

DBWI = Talking about something in an alternate universe as if you live there.

E.g.,

DBWI: Allied "D-Day" A Success

"What if the Allies had managed to pull off their proposed 'D-Day' invasion and invade France, instead of being soundly defeated by the Germans like they did in OTL?"

"What? This is ASB. The Allies would never be able to mount an effective attack on France so late in the war."

etc., etc. Can be a lot of fun if the ATL is interesting enough. I suppose nobody much cares for format wars, now that they've actually, in our real, solid, physical timeline been resolved, with Blu-Ray coming out the winner. ;)

(/OOC)

Well, you'd probably see PS3 sales plummet rather than becoming best-selling seventh generation console.

OOC: Blu-Ray has come out on top?
W000t! My laptop plays Blu-rays!

IC: Well, this is annoying. I got a laptop for Xmas which plays Blu-ray discs (as well as DVDs, DVD RW etc, obviously). Looks like that was a waste of money, I should have held off a bit.
