DBWI "Hanoverian" dynasty in England

When Queen Anne died, the English elite were so determined to prevent a Catholic from coming to the throne that there was a scheme to make the Elector of Brunswick-Luneburg, who at least was a Protestant, the new King. What would have been the ramifications if this had actually worked?

Remember the mess created by Charles III suddenly claiming Modena after d'Estes go extinct? Now double this. Or triple. Now England gets tied into every single continental war, because it is in personal union with some (upstart) principality. Also, what VVD0D95 said - King not speaking English is a tool of Parliament or magnates.

Maybe more of an anti-French sentiment in the country? James III being raised in France, plus being Catholic didn't help matters. Then again, his marriage to the Emperor's niece, Elizabeth Farnese, didn't either, since that meant that in addition to his son claiming Modena, he also theoretically had better rights to Parma and Tuscany than the princes they decided on in 1737.
