What if the second president of the United States had not been Alexander Hamilton?

well, we probably would've been spared the American Civil War...or it at least wouldn't have started in Hamilton's last year in office.

and don't get me started about Hamilton's smuggling of weapons to Scotland. some folks here might call that an attempt to liberate the Scots....I call it a hostile act provoking war.

So who wins, Thomas Jefferson? You could see an opposite ACW where the North tries to overthrow and replace government.

Also, I wonder who would be the first president to be assassinated here.

Without the Louisiana War (Mr. Hamilton's War for you Demo-Reps) I don't think that the United States would have been able to gain New Orleans.

But maybe even with a dove like Jefferson or Adams in office it might have happened. After all, IMO Hamilton would still be really for it ATL, and regardless of the outcome of the '92 election he was the most powerful figure in the First Republic.

Do you think that the Federal Party would have been able to make itself the champion of the frontier states' without the Louisiana War?
