DBWI: Gran Colombia breaks up

Maybe the Spanish get something back? Like Spanish Panama gets reintroduced a bit earlier.

OOC: Spain was stronger than OTL hold onto the Philippines etc. And build the Panama canal. Because of that I'm biased

I suppose Peru-Bolivia is now going to be the major South American world power now. Maybe Brazil too. Northern South America would take longer to become first world as the oil and mineral boom would happen later.

Well certainly the other GPs hold onto their bits of Guyana/Suriname.

We also likely wouldn't see South American colonization of Africa at all, except -maybe- by a stronger Brazil.

An independent Venezuela stands a chance of becoming a second-tier oil producer in its own right, but its rivalry with a reduced Colombia likely leads it down a nasty path.

In the absence of a northern hegemon, the southern Andean nations could unite and become a major Pacific player instead of constantly bickering.

Perhaps Panama becomes the target of a Filibuster invasion? We could see US 'client' states all over Central America without Colombia there to cock-block the restless Dixies.
