DBWI: George W. Bush not assassinated in 2005

10 May 2005, you hardly find anyone who doesn't remember that one fateful day.

While giving a speech in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, U.S. President George W. Bush was brutally killed alongside Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in an explosion caused by a hand grenade that was thrown toward the podium by Vladimir Arutyunian.

Let's assume for a moment that this assassination either failed or never took place, what ramifications would this have? Could the disastrous presidencies of Cheney and Clinton have been averted or at the very least postponed?

I think it's a bit jarring to call Hillary, who was assassinated a mere two years after being elected, a disaster.

Honestly, the Disaster of 2007 was always going to be a poison for any administration. The utter collapse of the housing industry was brewing since the 1990's when we overencouraged it. Cheney sure as shit didn't help, since he was reluctant in the role of President and plagued by ill health due to the stress on his heart. Hillary was more in the wrong place at the wrong time and was a bit too phlegmatic of a person to handle crisis. Her getting killed by a member of ISIS didn't help all that much either. Rice managed to heal the situation in 2012 precisely because the economy was leaving its trough and she knew that some level of impulse was needed.

Dean might have a chance, but his personality and his reputation in his year in office goes against him winning.

OOC: I just edited that in because it was brought up before I posted. I don't like assassin fests because that'd promote better bodyguard details after the first one.

Thank god Conoleezza Rice stop that one term Clinton nightmare.

Hey I heard recently that former Vice President and briefly president Howard Dean might run again.
Vice President Bush I still think will be the president after President Rice.

OOC: Alright, I have to retcon these parts. Please be a bit more reasonable here, guys.
