DBWI: George W. Bush annouces he will run for a fifth term.

He'll lose. I'll bet you my life savings on it. The only reason he keeps winning is the Democrats keep nominating weak candidates.... nominating John flippin' Edwards in 2008 is probably the biggest mistake the Democratic Party ever made. Not only did we fail to get rid of him in '08, but Bush had four more years to build back up his reputation and be ready for 2012.

Meanwhile the United States government somehow finds the money to supply all of North Korea with power, while we suffer our 3rd great north eastern blackout since 2003, this time in the middle of winter.

Believe me, the Democrats have a strong candidate, Andrew Cuomo of New York. He'll defeat Bush in a landslide.

The Republican presence in Congress is quite pitiful, really. 89 seats in the House, 36 seats in the Senate. Cuomo winning means the GOP will be hit hard...

Hell, they only have 14 seats in the House and 3 in the Senate, Cuomo's victory will wipe them off the face of American politics.

OCC:
There is no way in hell this would happen.

This is pushing the limits of ASB as it is but if the planets align and a selective butterfly net was in effect it's just about possible for bush to get elected more times.

Having the Republican party on the verge of extinction while still having anything close to OTL is impossible.

Seriously though, the voting public of this country are known to make some very bad choices. Remember back in 2003 when a porn star was elected governor of California? What's next? Dennis Rodman as the US ambassador to North Korea?

Let me add that Governor Mary Carey was impeached and removed from office in 2004.

Jerry Brown has been an improvement since winning the 2006 election. And to think that he initially sought to run for California Attorney General that year.

OOC: Having the mid-term losses happen a lot, and Republicans not having the Tea Party, means they wouldn't control Congress. I'll edit it to a higher number.

Don't rain on TB's dream of a one party state LOL

OOC: So let me get this straight
2000: Bush wins as per usual
2004: See above
2008: Edward's poor showing wins Bush 4 more years
2012: North Korea galvanizes the public to vote Bush once again? (Is Bush trying to pass this off as a humanitarian effort?)
2016: (according to AH'ers) Bush is going to loose in a land slide.

Also how did Nixon get five terms and why Dukakis and not Clinton?

(ooc: I couldn't forsee Bush winning in 2008 under any circumstances but the shittiest Democrat possible... so Edwards. So you have things right, I guess.

Nixon was pretty popular until Watergate.

Dukakis I'm pleased with but confused.)
