The history of Facebook provides a good example of "great minds think alike". When Mark Zuckerberg created the predecessor of Facebook in college, he found out that another student, Russian immigrant Pavel Durov, had created a similar service. Eventually, the two decided to join their forces and created Facebook, which, for many, became the social networking website.

However, the two collaborators couldn't be any more different from one another. Zuckerberg had a more low-key personality. He simply wanted to share his creation to the world. For Durov, the world was not enough. He was the one who wanted everything, and would fight the law if it stood in the way of his vision. With such different characters, the relationship between Durov and Zuckerberg had been slowly going south, culminating in their argument over governement access to users' private data.

Regardless of what you think about Durov, I thought it'd be interesting to look at a world where he wasn't co-creating Facebook (probably staying in Russia instead). With Zuckerberg being the sole driving force of Facebook, how different would it be and in which direction would it go? Let's discuss!

EDIT Whoops, wrong board. Mods, please move.
