My family and I are currently on vacation in Paris, and I have to say the capital of France is a very busy place. I'm pretty sure it's gonna get busier, however, because I read in one of the local papers that King Louis XX summoned the Estates-General for some reason or another.
I'm quite curious what might happen, because I'm not a native to this country. My history is a bit fuzzy, but I do remember the most famous Estates-General was the one that gathered in 1789, to deal with financial problems, and when it attempted to make political changes, Louis XVI simply ordered the Armée Royale to dissolve it by force.
Things are probably more sedate than they were in 1789, but given that the Estates-General was only summoned three times since then, I'm quite excited to be in France at this time.
Does anyone know what the coming sessions of the Estates-General is for? The article I read didn't go into any detail.
OOC: Gah, I can't type. Title should be: "DBWI: Estates-General of 1789 dissolved by force"...
