DBWI : Equatorial Guinea not invaded by Gabon and subsequently annexed

What would have happened if Gabon had not invaded and annexed Equatorial Guinea?

How long could Nguema (probably the second most horrible dictator ever, after only Leopold of Belgium) have continued to rule before the country collapsed or he was deposed by other means?

In general, how much worse would Equatorial Guinea have been? I know that it is considered to be a "cinderella province" of Gabon, with most of its oil money not being funnelled back into it, little attention from the central government and a large independence movement, but a continuing Nguema dictatorship would have probably been much worse.

POD after 1968

Pretty much what was said about he was completely insane. Documents that were found in the ruins of the capital show that he planned on executing every single fisherman there families and everyone in the villages to make it impossible for people to escape

*looks at wikipedia article for Macias Nguema*
He banned fishing just one year after coming into power, managed to kill a large fraction of the country's population, banned medicine, renamed the island of Ocho after himself (!), declared himself to be a god on Earth and generally was so batshit crazy that NORTH CHOSEON were wary of touching him with a 100-metre pole.

Also, what would the possible butterflies have been?
