DBWI Entire continent colonized

Can the continent be colonized from within? Because the Romans came pretty close to colonizing all of Europe when they established the Limes Vistulae.

In Asia, Gokturks under Ozbeg Khan's successors also conquered and then partitioned most of the continent, except Nusantara, Bjarmia-Sibiria, and the southern half of India. But they controlled something like 80% of Asia's population at the time.

I don't know, colonizing an entire continent requires a lot of power projection, and I'm not sure any country would really be able to do it. Unless you broke it down into tiny tiny colonies, like every island in the Carib Sea small. And then how would the interior be controlled by a power across an ocean?

I don't think that they would break off. I doubt that if it was colonized with settlers the people would ever feel removed enough from their motherland to warrant breaking away, even with the massive time it took to cross the oceans.

Maybe if Terra Australis hadn't been discovered by the Javanese, Ternateans, Makassans, Madagasques, and Polynesians in ancient times?

If Terra Australis was only discovered in say, the 1800s, then a single naval power could lay claim to it. In that case, the native polities wouldn't have been able to play off varying factions of outsiders.

I believe that there were plans to turn Antarctica into a unified League of Nations mandate in order to pool the costs and ensure an equitable exploitation of its resources. Its just that colonising Antarctica wasn't that practical a goal so they scrapped the proposal.

Terra is inposible. it is too close to the javanese and polynesian empires not to be found. The Idowuicas have a better chance. That is why the allies where able to island hop from there to the inperial Thai mainland. If the empires of west africa or the vikings had a weaker naval tradition or their colonys had collapsed faster before they could spread eroupean technology and germs then the empires of the Idowuicans would have very poor immunity or defence against the Hapsberg, French, and Irish ''exploration'' of the their lands.
