To this day, Enron still ranks among the most highly respected utilities giants in the world. President Obama spoke highly of Ken Lay, Andy Fastow and Jeffrey Skilling's leadership skills at his first White House press dinner in '09, proclaiming the trio to be "humble, swell guys of outstanding integrity."
But...ask yourself this...ask yourself what the consequences would be if Enron were exposed as a fraudulent, greedy entity that did whatever it took to steamroll everyone else to get to the top of the energy sector. Ask yourself how the people of Houston would react if the company that gave so generously to the community turned out to be a bunch of hucksters. Ask yourself what would happen to America's economy if this utilities heavyweight were to one day collapse on itself.
