DBWI Enoch Powell returns to the UK

I recently learned that when Enoch Powell became a professor at the University of Sydney in 1937, he told the people who hired them that if Britain went to war he would return and enlist in the army! Well someone talked him out of it and he remained in Australia all his life and became the Enoch Powell Aussies all know and love. What if he had returned to Britain and enlisted?

>all know and love

Contrastatement is an Australian habit. At USYD Powell was for starters "on the nose" with The Push and the political economy movement. I hesitate to speak about the Tin Sheds, let alone later. Largely due to libel law. Maybe someone outside the reach of NSW courts can remind you of just how rough that love got.

I assume the British left treats him likewise should he survive the war and as he was predisposed become a very public figure.

Yours,
Sam R.
