DBWI: End of Beatles 09' Tour

OOC: Bored, and I know its been done before, but this is always fun.

IC: Just saw the Beatles last show of the 09' Tour two nights ago. They where great. None of them are spring chickens, but they put up a good show. All the touring after their reunion in 1978 made them from a crummy live band to a great one. Even Harrison seems to like it now. Anyway, they played a 36 song setlist, it was amazing. I got it all down on my Iphone. Most of the songs (thankfully) where from their classic's on the 60's, but they did a few of the hits from their 4 post-reunion albums. Here it is:

1. A Hard Day's Night (Great Opener, it just got you ready for the whole concert)
2. You Won't See Me
3. Getting Better
4. Hello Goodbye
5. I've Got a Feeling
6. How Did This Happen?
7. I Feel Fine
8. Nowhere Man
9. Back in the USSR
10. Dear Prudence
11. Come Together (Turned into a huge jam, and Paul even did a bit of a bass solo)
12. Boys
13. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
14. See You Later
15. She Loves You
16. Paperback Writer (They Freakin Nailed the Harmonies in the Beginning!)
17. I Wanna Hold Your Hand
18. Taxman
19. Penny Lane
20. Norwegian Wood (Was just amazing. Nothing else describes it)
21. Can't Buy Me Love
22. Twist and Shout
23. Good Morning Good Morning
24. Yellow Submarine (Turned into a huge sing-a-long)
25. I Am the Walrus (They had to use backing tracks, but ti still came out great. Harrison knows how to improvise guitar into the song)
26. Revolution
Encore Break
27. Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band/With A Little Help From My Friends
28. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
29. Day Tripper
30. Get Back
Second Encore Break
31. Yesterday (the Whole band coming out to join Paul on Vocals halfway through)
32. Something
33. Helter Skelter
34. Let It Be
35. Abbey Road Medley (That was just awesome. I had no idea they where playing the whole thing!!)
36. Hey Jude (Another Huge Singalong)

Really, it was a great concert. Thing I heard though was they change up setlist a lot, and also have special guests a lot. Anyone who can relate their experience?

Unlike the Stones, these guys can make fun of themselves and enjoy doing it. Like when the concert opened and they all came out on stage using walkers! I can't see Jagger doing that. Altho, to give Mick credit, when he made a surprise appearance on-stage at the London show and sang Come Together with the lads it was a stunning moment in rock n roll history.

I think the walkers were not so much making fun of themselves as support for the crippled Paul.

Yeah, but thank god it did not kill him! And now that pyscho-bitch is behind bars! Atleast John got over her...
Yoko may not have killed Paul, but is he that much better off being a drooling vegetable that can hardly use a walker? He can't play guitar or bass any more--though he still is the best drummer in the band.

As to Yoko, I don't think stating "John got over her..." is quite correct. She divorced him, noting he had not done anything worthwhile since 1975 and referring to him as the "Elvis Beatle." Given his wretched Double Fantasy Album, this is hard to dispute. Of course his stock went way down when during Yoko's trial Lennon conceded egging on Yoko to shoot Paul, revealing he and Paul had been lovers on and off for years.

And Yoko is getting out jail next year, with New York's Museum of Modern Art planning a massive retrospective of her work coinciding with her release. While the show's title, "The Most Talented Beatle," seems in poor taste. there is no denying Yoko's stock as an artist is up.

What did people think about John Lennon's speech calling for Tibetan independence after they sang "Revolution"? He promptly brought out the embattled Dalai Lama out for applause...

Lennon certainly hasn't been afraid of controversy, just remember how he got arrested in 1995 with U2's Bono in support of President Bill Clinton's and PM Tony Blair's peace talk efforts in Belfast. He was also with Cindy Sheehan in 2006 when they protested outside President Bush's mansion in Crawford, Texas to protest the "War on Terror"....

Can't believe no one has mentioned the Seattle show where Jimi Hendrix came out and did that duo with George on Here Comes The Sun! I mean that was just fantastic. Hope it shows up on the CD when it comes out.
