OoC: Analogue to the "Election in the USSA"-Thread, here is the thread for the US-in-exile, the United Free States of America, based in OTL Cuba.
OC: The Free Congress of the UFSA will be elected. And four factions fight for seats in the congress:
Republican Party: Claims to be the continuation of the prohibited mainland Republicans. Current president Juan McCain y Gonzalez takes a more hardline stance against the communist mainland. But he has also to deal with social unrest, since the collapse of several carribean banks, which had their seats in Cuba. Some people already call him a "second Hoover", because he seems to lean back and watch what will happen next. McCain said, that things will calm down, as soon as the market regenerated.
New Democratic Party: The NDP is the successor of the old Democratic party, which merged in the late 30's with the communists (Thank you Mr. Wallace). NDP-chairman Kendrick Meek demands a nationalization of all collapsed cuban bank, but only to split them into "good" and "bad banks". He also wants to implement a nation wide health care system (Which should be avaible to all citizens) and more social security. Meek has also announced, that he wants to work for a more calm relationship between to two US.
Another question is, can Meek be the first Afro-American to be elected into a high office in the UFSA?
Nacionalistas cubanos (Cuban Nationals): They demand a "Cuba for Cubans", with Spanish as the main language in Cuba. They also want to repress american influence in Cuba and place Cubans into high offices. They also want to build a naval blockade between Florida and Cuba, to prevent the masses of refugees swimming to Cuba. And at last, they want to rename the UFSA in Cuba.
Although being a fascist and nationalistic party, they want to normalize relations to the USSA, in order to fullfill their goals.
Socialistas cubanos/Cuban Socialists: They want a fully equal society on Cuba, where Americans and Cubans are equaled in the society (They are on paper, but still the Americans dominate the society). They also want to completely nationalise the banks and the industry of Cuba. And they want to have English and Spanish as equal main languages on Cuba.
Regarding the relationship with the mainland, they want a friendly relationship, and eventually a reunification with the USSA, or at least a tight alliance between the two states.
So who will get your support?
