And all of those had little real teeth to them and 1964 was the key bill to negro equality. The bill respects the liberty of all for the equality of all. It is not a trade off for there cannot be equality without liberty. Bigotry, however, is not liberty. How can liberty be denied to an entire race in favor of allowing another to subjugate it, and legal legislation to finally enforce that race's freedom be considered the part which is illiberal.

You are correct that bigotry is not liberty, and also correc that there cannot be equality without liberty. Abuse of the commerce clause is not liberty, thus cannot rightly be called equality. The right of all citizens of the United States regardless of color to enjoy all priviledges of citizenship must be affirmed, be they rights to vote, possess a firearm, own property, or due process of the laws and judiciary. However, the right of the federal government to regulate private property held in one individual state or another simply is not there.

Not an American, but I had to put in a vote for Kennedy on the poll. I deeply admire the man.

As for Australia, in the next election (which is due sometime before November next year) I'll be proudly voting for Whitlam. It's nice to have an Opposition Leader who I can enthusiastically support, rather than Arthur bloody Calwell.

I'm casting a write-in vote for Goldwater (Pres.) and Brooke (VP).

In 1964, Goldwater choose an ideological soul mate as his running mate. Did he learn the importance of balanced ticket. Of course, this is your write in so you can help him along?

Wallace/LeMay is the only team committed to winning the war in Indochina. If America could beat the Nazis and Japs in WW2, there is no way we can lose in Indochina IF we have the will to win.
