The OTL US called Eisenhower of retirement so he could lead the military to victory in 1949, as he led the Allies to victory in WWII.

However, in his conversations he had with captured Communist saboteurs in the West, instead of discovering a weakness in the Soviet Union he was instead convinced that Communism was needed to advance humanity to its next stage and defected, sabotaging the defense of Western Europe and China, destroying two American fleets, and giving away almost all tech advantages. This left America with no method of fighting effectively besides NBC weapons that killed such a horrific chunk of the world population.

What if this didn’t happen? What if Eisenhower had remained loyal? Given the industrial advantage enjoyed by the West, could they have defeated Communism?
