DBWI Disney Went All In On Streaming

Okay, it's 12 November 2019 the launch date for Disney+ so it had to be done so here it goes:

Obviously streaming services are a huge part of entertainment today - on our phones, our pads, our TVs, and our computers. It seems like we can watch just about anything. However, it is interesting that the global entertainment colossus known as Disney has shied away from streaming. Sure they do some - they own Hulu, they have ESPN+, and I know that they are coming out with ABC All Access (but I hear that will mostly be shows already on ABC and Free Form).

Why haven't they joined in on streaming? For the past couple of years there were rumors they were going to come out with their own streaming service and a bunch of names like Disney+ and Disney Premier were thrown around but apparently CEO Bob Iger thought it was too risky and would cost too much money.

So why haven't they gone all in and what if they did? I know some people think the reason Disney is staying away from it is because they are working on something bigger and better while others claim it is because they feel like they will lose control of what comes out of and what stays in the fabled Disney Vault. Of course the most logical explanation is that with Bob Iger stepping down in another year, he did not want to be the one took Disney in this direction and the company is simply waiting for his replacement to implement plans that already exist and are just waiting to be executed. Others think Disney's reticence to go into streaming the way some think they should is a warning about streaming's long term viability. Disney of course has been strangely silent on why they are not going head to head with Netflix and other services.

What does everyone else think?

I’m pretty sure the reason they haven’t started a streaming platform is to avoid getting too much of the media market share. Anti-trust laws and all that.
