Alright, said what you want to say against Publius Licinius Crassus as well as his daddy Marcus Licinius' corruptions, bribery allegations, and some said his incompetence before his unfortunate death, but Publius Crassus was a competent man, as well as the man, with the advantage of hindsight, who could be seen as the true saviour of Roman Republicanism.
So, let's get back to Marcus Licinius Crassus' campaign in the east that started in year 699 AUC (OOC : 55 BC). With the strength of initial seven legions, as well as some help from friendly Armenian king Artasvades, he managed to march deep into Parthian hinterlands.
It's lucky that Marcus' son, Publius, actually listened to Artasvades and carried additional horsemen from Armenia, but it was a bit too late to save his father from Sureena's ambush. It was said that he charge with several Armenian light cavalry as well a his loyal celtic retinues to save his father, but while the charge is militarily successful, his father already dead, with some said he was woundless but dies from fear, but others said he died heroically as he fight down several Parthian Cataphracts in brutal close combat.
And long story short, Licinius Crassus' aim to get several more wealth from looting Parthian territories was met, but difficulty to holding locals means several of the territories was gifted to Armenia in the end. But still Licinius Crassus entered Rome in Triumph and even elected as co-Consul aside of Julius Caesar.
So, what if Crassus lost against the Parthians?
