DBWI Cowboys stay in the NFC

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the three teams selected to go from the NFL to the AFC as part of the merger, but when doing research for a NFL timeline I was surprised to learn that they were nearly put in the NFC. The reasons for this didn't make much sense to me, but it really would have screwed with some of the later rivalries, depending on who they swapped this. Suppose they did stay with the NFC? Presumably they would have been in the NFC West?

So Steelers would be the one who moved? that was the team the cowboys remplaced in the NFC Capitol and later East Division, and they were the leader of the pack by decades(till giants and redskins step their game and card we were able to knock them down in 98 and 08 respectly) of course cowboys would be moved different, i think they would moved with the cards and join 49ers and Rams...again division used to be a west.

Well this butterfly away the Cardinals-Cowboys Superbowl(aka one of the best one and not talking as cardinals fans) that might have changed tony romo interception? we will have texans in a 'nfc south' with cowboys, cardinals, St Louis(now LA) Rams and possible saints?

Steelers the leaders of the pack in the Capital / NFC East? Which gas have you been inhaling? When Roman Gabriel came east to Philadelphia from the Rams, he started the Eagles' run at the front of that division, to be continued with Ron Jaworski, Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and the heir apparent, Carson Wentz (OK, the Eagles finished 10-6 and second this year, but what do you want with a rookie QB?). The Steelers have had the honor of bridesmaids multiple times--and who can forget the almost-as-regular-as-clockwork thrashings the Eagles have administered (who could forget the Three Rivers Massacre with Reggie White ringing up five sacks by himself, for example?).

OOC: An Eagles fans...as a cards fans we are...neutral terms? as cowboys are the cardinals rivals and yours are giants? still don't ruin the fun i was counting minimum butterflies but yeah things would change.

IC: Please Don't quote Fly Eagles Fly, maybe the best football TL here, as Steelers loss Terry bradshaw(to cowboys of all teams) in that legendary coin flip and as the title say, the eagles flied. we're assuming we're talking otl here...
