DBWI:Clinton Wasn't Assassinated?

On October 29th,1994 President Bill Clinton was Assassinated by Fransisco M. Duran while Clinton had stepped outside to get a bit of fresh air. Clinton was killed when a bullet hit him in the heart. Like JFK little more than 30 years before, many people can now remember exactly where they were when they heard the news that Clinton was shot.

Even though I was very young at the time, I can still remember watching newly sworn in President Gore promising to continue the work of his predecessor.

So, how do you think history would have changed if Clinton had survived had not been assassinated?

I wonder how he would have been remembered if he'd completed his term and possibly a second term.

There were questions about his financial past regarding his involvement the Whitewater Development Corporation. There were also suggestions of marital infidelities. However as often happens when a national leader is assassinated all this got rapidly forgotten and he is now remembered as one of America's most loved Presidents. I can't help but think that this wouldn't be the case if his presidency had continued

People speculated that the ego-maniac VP Al Gore had a hand in it. He was frustrated in his failed efforts to put global warming front-and-center in White House policy.

Others say Duran acted alone.

Some people, including Oliver Stone, thought it was Hillary. She did remarry suspiciously soon after the funeral...

In any case, I think that the Gingrich Revolution would have happened two years earlier, in 1994 and not 1996 when Phil Gramm was elected after Gore tried to impose the carbon tax. Clinton is now a martyr, of course, but he was headed for defeat before the assassination. He likely would have been a one term President.

It's odd to think of it, but imagine no Clinton Memorial Quarter.

Remember the long fight that took place over that? Conservatives and Washington fans (and many historians) battled hard over losing the first president on a coin, but the precedent was set when Kennedy appeared on the half-dollar after his assassination, and they don't really make (or circulate, anyway) half-dollars anymore.

But it did eventually work out when the push to re-establish a Washington coin dovetailed with the need for a dollar coin. The Washington Dollar coin couldn't have been more successful.

Of course Duran acted alone. He claimed at his trial that Clinton was possessed by some kind of extraterrestrial mist.

Any ideas on whether or not Clinton would have promoted the Internet the same way Gore did when he was President? Say what you like about the man, the expansion of the Internet was a good thing.

Yeah, Speaker Gingrich is still making jokes about how President Gore "invented the Internet."

I only listen to Newt!

Yeah, Speaker Gingrich is still making jokes about how President Gore "invented the Internet."
Speaker Gingrich only gets away with those jokes because Republican voters would never bother to look up either Gore's speeches on the floor of the US Senate or his bills/votes back in the 1980's.:p

Yes, her marriage to Steve Jobs was very odd, as well as the fact the her name is now Hillary Rodham Clinton Jobs. I suspect his money was a big help to her wiining the Presidency in 2004, and holding onto it in 2008, but the idea that she somehow had a hand in her husbands murder is disgusting to say the least.
